Frank Wilks is a Canadian singer-songwriter and live performer whose career spans five decades of North American rock and roots music. He began his journey in the mid-1970s, performing as a solo artist in clubs throughout Toronto and across Ontario, quickly earning a reputation as a compelling live musician.
A major turning point came in 1984 when Frank connected with Bruce Palmer, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bassist and founding member of Buffalo Springfield. The two became close collaborators and were soon joined by Hall of Fame drummer Dewey Martin. Following a meeting with Neil Young in Buffalo, Frank signed an agreement with Young and Stephen Stills that allowed him and Palmer to tour as “Buffalo Springfield Revisited.” The band toured extensively across the United States and Canada for six years.
Throughout his career, Frank has shared the stage with legendary artists including The Band, John Sebastian (The Lovin’ Spoonful), Skunk Baxter (The Doobie Brothers), and the Spencer Davis Band. He also appeared live on international television during the Jerry Lewis Telethon at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
In addition to his recording and touring career, Frank co-wrote and performed the musical stage production “I Am Not Neil Young” with Don Lamoreux. The production toured several Canadian Fringe Festivals, including Windsor, London, Hamilton (2008), and Toronto (2009).
By 2014, Frank had released ten albums. His eleventh CD, “HAVING GOOD TIMES!” (2015–2016), was recorded on Prince Edward Island with Juno Award–winning producer Paul Milner and featured session work by David Fitzpatrick (The Fables, Fitz & Them, Fame).
Frank has performed at the iconic Massey Hall and many other major venues with Classic Albums Live, delivering a note-for-note performance of “The Last Waltz.” Over the years, he has led multiple bands, including "Frank Wilks & The Freedom Express", performing regularly throughout Southern Ontario.
Now based in Germany, Frank Wilks has entered an exciting new chapter of his musical career. Already in 2025, he has completed multiple live performances, continuing to connect with audiences through timeless songs and powerful live shows.
